Grades

Grades
Lumber is grade from one face with the back permitting a lower grade. 95% of production yeilds a STK grade of lumber. Selects are accumulated and often only available in the narrow widths(4", 5", 6", 8").
STK - Sound Tight Knot SEL - Select
Sound knots and other natural markings form the major characteristics of an STK grade. Sapwood is not a defect. Allows no more than 10% loose knots. Three(3) medium surface checks not to exceed 4-10 inches long and 1/32" wide. Select is the highest quality available. Small pin knots not to exceed 1/4" in diameter are permitted. Sapwood is not a defect. Three(3) light surface checks not to exceed 3-7 inches long and 1/32" wide.
